Hey guys, this is Eric with media hind, and this is our SEO like a CEO series. Today I'm going to be talking about keyword density and how it impacts. Yours all right. So first off, what is keyword density? Keyword density is the frequency. You mention a keyword or a key phrase in your post. We're going to have to do a little math here but don't worry. It's not too bad, and there are two formulas you have to think about, and you're only going to have to pick one of them. But these are kind of the two that I'll see the SEO community use, and they're kind of seems to be divided on which ones they end up going with, so you're going to have to pick either one. You won't don't stress about it, but formula. one is that you are split up your keywords, so if your key phrase and includes multiple words and chances are it's going to if you listen to my advice during long-tail keywords. I'm going to recommend that you typically use multi-word vital phrases, and that's because. But if you have multiple words, and let's say you wrote a 500-word blog post, you're going to split up the comments when you're trying to calculate your density, so if you use, let's say your phrase has three words. It's a 500-word blog post you're going to divide three by 500, and that's going to be a point zero six keyword density in that case, but chances are you're going to mention it multiple times. So you're going to add them all together, so if you do it nine times, let's say you would multiply nine times the number of words, or now you'd have 27now 27 divided by 500 is going to be five per cent. You'll see that it's a much higher density, right? And that's because you're using not only the phrase a lot of times but counting each word against yourself.

The second formula is you count it all as one word, so even if it is the exact word three-word phrase, you counted once if you use it one time. It's going to be again one divided by 500 or point zero or 0.2%now if you use it, let's repeat three times. You're only counting the word once, so three divided by 500 would be point six per cent. I'm going to tell you that is because keyword density all that matters that you're taking away from this is relative to the length of content you are rewriting, and I want to stress that so. If you use a word two or three times and it's a five hundred to a thousand-word article, that will be a low-density no matter. Which formula you use is relatively low. If you're writing only 100 or 200 words, then it will be a high density. If you're using it multiple times, it's a relative thing that's the most important thing to take away from density, all right, so which density should you be aiming for us.

We are not going to give you an exact number and more on this in a bit. Still, I know everyone wants the same number so, I'm going to tell you to refer to things like the Yoast SEO tool. They have the little green light red light section right when they're analyzing the SEO score for your blog post and as long as. You're setting a focused keyword, and you're going to see it go anywhere from half a per cent to 3 per cent. It's going to get you the green light in Yoast. I think that's a pretty good range to stick with. It's important not to stress keyword density. You want to stay with in-field you don't want to use it too much. You're going to run into the danger of keyword stuffing. You don't have to worry about anything about density. You've seen a few times your blog post you've indicated to Google that this is what my blog posted about. I don't believe me. Well, let's go straight to the source. Let's talk to Google about what they think about keyword density. So this is great. What he says is don't worry about keyword density. There is no ideal keyword density at Google. If you use it more than a couple of times in your blog post, you start to get diminishing returns. What he means is using it.
